Coastal California (Bay Area and Big Sur) Waterfalls
This page is devoted to the Coastal California Waterfalls, especially around Big Sur and the Bay Area.
More specifically, we’re defining this region to cover the Nature surrounding the urban sprawl of San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland. This includes the Point Reyes National Seashore, the Big Basin Redwoods State Park, and the Mt Tamalpais Watershed among others.

We’re also including the central coast dominated by Big Sur, which in our mind stretched from Monterey to San Simeon. This part of the state is where we think of as the most dramatic place to see where the ocean meets the sky. It’s a notion that would be reinforced with each visit to this area that Julie and I have taken over the years.
We’re also including in the Central Coast subregion the wilderness area to the east of San Luis Obispo and Arroyo Grande.
We recognize that our humble sampling of the waterfalls in this part of the state leave a lot to be desired. So while we’re keen on adding to this collection, have a look at what we were able to accomplish so far by checking out the tables and links below.
