GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) Compliance
GDPR is an EU regulation requiring that websites obtain “explicit consent” prior to collecting personal data. Any visits to this website since May 25, 2018 should present the visitor the opportunity to affirmatively opt-in to any data collection. If not, please inform the administrator (contact given below) so we can address the issue.
Our Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.
GPDR Regulation for Children’s Privacy
Finally, in addition to the existing children’s privacy section above, a parent must give consent for any website to collect personal data of any child under the age of 16.
Since we have no way of knowing how old each visitor is unless we’re explicitly told so, we must ask that if you are under 16 that you inform your parent or guardian of your intent to visit the website. Similarly, if you’re a parent or guardian of a minor under the age of 16, then you should be aware that personal information may be collected of the minor.
The policy above for children under the age of 13 is extended to children under the age of 16. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.
In order to cut down on spam submissions, we are requiring visitors to have an account with us should he/she wish to submit content to the website.
However, for any website visitor submissions made in the past, users were given accounts to associate the author with the submission. This may precede the May 25, 2018 date when GDPR took effect.
The only required field for each user account is a valid email address (so we may have communicate regarding your account or if you need to reset your password), username, and password. All other user profile fields are voluntary.
Behind the scenes, the IP address may be collected and associated with the account. This is so abusive users can be identified and corrective action can be taken regarding such users’ account(s).
We discuss more about the terms and conditions regarding usage of this website as well as user accounts, which you can read about here.
Opting Out of User Accounts
You have the ability to opt-out by having the administrator remove the email association with the account tied to the given submission(s). A dummy non-functioning email will be in its place.
You may also have the administrator further obfuscate your identity by changing the public profile of this account.
This effectively disassociates the author from the submission(s) in question and makes the account (as well as its association with said author’s submission(s)) anonymous.
Should this visitor wish to contribute new content, then he/she will have to sign up as a new user (subject to explicit consent through the sign up form) and make the submission with the new identity. All association with the prior account (including any prior work tied to this account) is lost.
