About Strandfossen
Strandfossen was a tall waterfall that we noticed during our excursion into Eikesdalen Valley to see Mardalsfossen. It was a conspicuous presence as it was facing the Eresfjord at the mouth of Eikesdalen, though we had to defer our visit to this roadside waterfall for later in the day when our Eikesdalen excursion was finished. Even though we saw the falls flowing quite impressively during our visit in July 2005, I believe it was regulated (due to all the power lines we saw around it).
Perhaps the best views that we were able to get of this waterfall was from a distance a short distance south of the Eresfjord township. Like you see in the photo at the top of this page, we had a pretty clean view over open fields with cows grazing on them. As we drove closer to the falls along the Road 660, the falls was harder to see as there didn’t seem to be a dedicated roadside pullout or shoulder for the falls. Plus, the viewing angle from such close proximity to the falls was a bit more severe and thus we couldn’t appreciate its whole in context.
