The Sauda to Røldal Waterfalls page is where I’m paying homage to the numerous waterfalls we encountered as we drove along this stretch of the Rv520 mostly through moorish highlands between the towns of Sauda and Røldal straddling both the Rogaland and Hordaland counties.

As you can see from this page, we definitely lost count of these waterfalls, and I’m betting that the same thing might happen to you if you were to try to quantify them while touring through here.

In some cases, I was surprised that they didn’t name some of them (at least not on Norgesglasset or the maps on Statens Kartverk atlases).

After a while, it was kind of fruitless to try to stop and identify each every one of the waterfalls encountered so we then took it upon ourselves to merely photograph the waterfalls that stood out to us while enjoying the drive (despite the rainy weather).

Route to this Waterfall

We drove north along the Rv520 from Sauda towards the E134/Rv520 junction near Røldal. This stretch of road was about 40km. It took us a little over two hours to cover this area, including all the stops for the waterfalls we did manage to stop for.

For context, Sauda was about an hour drive (50km) north of Sand (one ferry crossing required), and 4 hours drive (192km) north of Stavanger (at least three ferry crossings needed). Røldal was about 27km (30 minutes drive) east of Skare.
