Flakkefossen

Flakkefossen was a seemingly obscure waterfall that I had targeted for a visit given its somewhat close proximity to the southern Norwegian town of Kristiansand.

Little did I realize that I would also stumble upon another waterfall (Teinefossen) while I was searching for this one.

The Flakkefoss Waterfall tumbled on the Digeelva River, and I was able to see most of its cascade from a narrow road or trail that climbed alongside its drop.

I eventually went high enough near its top to get the picture you see above.

I enjoyed this view because I could see the scenically-located cascade make its way towards the lake in the distance called Flakksvann, which happened to be part of the Tøvdalselva River system.

It turned out that despite identifying and locating the Flakkefoss Waterfall on the Norwegian online topo map Norgesglasset, I still had some trouble finding it as I didn’t recall there being any signs specifically labeled for this waterfall.

I pretty much had to figure out where I was relative to the clues given in the topo map itself (see directions below) then navigate the maze of dirt roads between some private rural houses (which I believe beloned to the hamlet or village of Flakk).
