Top of the Top (Escondido Falls)

submitted by Squainbrain on February 17, 2012

The World of Waterfalls has been to this waterfall, which you can read about here.

I’ve been on this hike several times. Every time we go to the bottom of the upper falls. It can be a little sketchy when using the rope to get up the hill but besides that it is very do-able.

One thing I did that I noticed no one is talking about is the hike to the top of the upper falls.

Just to the right when facing the upper falls is a steep hill into the rocks that leads to a path at the top of the falls and a nice small pool to sit by with a spectacular view. This hike is very steep with loose dirt so I would recommend you know what you are doing. There is also a bit of climbing involved.

The view and the seclusion at the top is unbelievable though. If you are an experienced hiker i would highly recommend it.
