Waterfalls in Nevada

Nevada Waterfalls are about as unlikely as they come. After all, this state is said to be the driest in the United States, which isn’t all that surprising considering that the state is dominated by the Great Basin (once part of the sea floor and then once a mighty salt lake later in its history) that includes parts of Southern Idaho as well as Western Utah. Of course, all it takes is a visit to places like Las Vegas, Laughlin, Reno, Carson City, etc. in the Summer months to really appreciate why this state would be the last one in which one would expect to find a legitimate waterfall.

And so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that we have only seen a handful of such legitimate waterfalls in the state. Heck, it was amazing that they even existed in the state in the first place!

Amongst the more memorable waterfalls we’ve seen here were Kings Canyon Falls near the state’s capital and Mary Jane Falls near Las Vegas. In the case of the latter, who knew that you could even find such a waterfall within an hour’s drive from Sin City?

Nonetheless, beggars can’t be choosers in a state where decent waterfalls were about as rare as winning a big jackpot while gambling in Vegas. Obviously, we’re keen on timing and making a visit to the state in the hopes of seeing more than just the small sampling of waterfalls we’ve gotten so far, but we recognize that this is really an exercise in patience and a little luck.
