Colorado Waterfalls were mostly nestled amongst the majestic Rocky Mountains where numerous peaks topped 14,000ft. While it wasn’t surprising to find waterfalls in this state, for one reason or another, they were the last waterfalls that we had a chance to visit when it came to states in the American Southwest. But when we finally did have our opportunities to explore the Rocky Mountain state and its waterfalls, that was when the state’s mountainous scenery grew on us with each passing day that we’d spend enjoying the outdoors. Indeed, like the Eastern Sierra mountains in California (forming the spine of that state), the famous Rocky Mountains defined pretty much the “Continental Divide” from Canada all the way south to New Mexico though this mountain range really dominated the state of Colorado. And with its snow-capped peaks, it’s not surprising to see that indeed plenty of waterfalls could be found here. So far, we’ve seen quite a handful of the state’s best waterfalls, but we’re always keen to visit more of them as more opportunities may arise.

So far, our travels in the state has taken us to some waterfalls near Pike’s Peak and Colorado Springs as well as the western and southwestern part of the state. Among the waterfall highlights so far were the gorgeous colors and travertine dams around the Bridal Veil Falls and Spouting Rock at Hanging Lake, the tallest permanent freefalling waterfall in the state in Telluride’s version of Bridal Veil Falls (this one also appeared in an old Jeep Wranger commercial), the somewhat out-of-the-way North Clear Creek Falls, and of course perhaps the state’s most scenic falls in Seven Falls near Colorado Springs.

In addition to the waterfalls, we were also mesmerized by the mysterious Anasazi ruins and artifacts at Mesa Verde National Park, the Alps-like towns of Telluride and Ouray, and even the Garden of the Gods by Colorado Springs. And did I mention the Rocky Mountain scenery as well as idyllic pastures fronting them?

Certainly, Colorado was one of those places that was growing on us (and still does so today). We’re keen to make repeated return trips here, and with each visit, the state sinks into us even more. Besides, we’re doubly motivated to see what other treasures the state has on offer, especially since we want to see more of the state’s beautiful waterfalls so we could augment our humble collection so far.
