Niagara Falls: Additional Considerations for a trip

In addition to our write-up on how to get to Niagara Falls concerning some of the logistics, we’ll also talk a little more about some other considerations to make when it comes to a visit.

Both sides of Niagara Falls are quite safe. However, that doesn’t mean you should be naive and leave your guard down as crime can occur anywhere anytime.

The greater danger is getting too close to moving water. And with the amount of safety railings that have been set up, you really have to make an effort to put yourself in danger in this case (e.g. jumping the railings).

You’re not likely to survive a drowning from the undertow of the turbulent water or survive a plunge down a waterfall into the rocks below, which can certainly happen if you get too close to the river and swept away. So don’t put yourself in that situation in the first place!

The Canadian Dollar is the currency of Canada while the US Dollar is the currency of the United States.

As of June 2007, the exchange rate was around 0.95 Canadian Dollar for every American Dollar.

Around Niagara Falls, many Canadian stores accept American Dollars but return the change in Canadian Dollars. However, the converse is not true as American stores will generally not accept Canadian currency.
