Waterfalls in Austria
Austria Waterfalls were abundant largely due to its mountainous terrain as it sat smack in the heart of the Eastern Alps. With such an abundance of mountains, we knew there were waterfalls to be seen here. And indeed, when we finally got to come here, it certainly didn’t disappoint.
So Julie and I recognized that we had a big hole in our survey of European Waterfalls without a visit here, and now after having spent at least three weeks in this landlocked country of castles, gorges, palaces, thermal lakes, alpine rollercoasters, etc., we feel like we’ve at least filled the last of the country-sized wholes in our European survey of waterfalls.

Our waterfalling adventures included behemoths like the Krimml Waterfalls and the towering Stuibenfall.
We’ve also encountered unique ones like the convergence of falling water in the Waldbachstrub Waterfall by the UNESCO World Heritage Hallstatt.
Then, there were others with a bit of history to them like the Bad Gastein Waterfalls as well as the Myrafalle (the latter of which Queen Maria Theresia would visit frequently).
And I haven’t even gotten to the gorge adventures like the Wasserlochklamm and Raggaschlucht among others.
There’s only so much that can be said in words on this page. So rather than ramble on and on about the wonderful Nature in Austria, it’s better to just browse the posts below and see for yourself why were so enchanted by this land…
