Waterfalls in Wisconsin
Most of the Wisconsin Waterfalls that we managed to visit were concentrated in the state’s far north near Lake Superior. Perhaps the lone waterfall that we saw in the Badger state that wasn’t in that part of the state was Willow Falls, which was just east of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Wisconsin was said to be the dairy capital of America and many of our waterfalling excursions brought us through acres upon acres of such farmlands dominated by cheese-cultivating dairies. That said, there were definitely areas where we got to experience some of the state’s natural beauty, and most of them involved waterfalls.

Some of the waterfalling highlights included the famous Copper Falls State Park, which also included Brownstone Falls as well as the wide and multi-tiered Willow Falls. Near the town of Superior, Wisconsin, we managed to visit the state’s highest waterfall in Big Manitou Falls, and across to the other side of the state, we managed to visit Superior Falls, which was a rare interstate waterfall shared with the state of Michigan.
While our pre-conceived notions of the state of Wisconsin were largely associated with football (i.e. the Green Bay Packers) and baseball (i.e. the Milwaukee Brewers), once again our waterfalling excursions allowed us to experience the more natural aspects of the land and the people who reside in it. I’m sure the state will surprise us in more ways as we look forward to doing more visits to the Badger state.
