About Lechfall
Lechfall was a man-made waterfall spilling over a dam ladder on the Lech River built in the 18th century as a means of flood control. What made this waterfall stand out was the color of the river itself. For all intents and purposes, this was a roadside waterfall viewable from different angles and positions.
From the street parking, we were able to see the falls fronted by a footbridge. We were also able to walk down to that footbridge for an even closer look at the Lechfall with the colorful waters of the Lech River seemingly held up as a lake just upstream of it.
Downstream of the Lechfall was a gorge as the waters of the Lech River would continue its flow towards other energy producing sections as the river has had a long history of being used to support developments whether it be transport in the Middle Ages to the energy production of today.
All told, we spent a leisurely 20 minutes away from the car. Perhaps the trickiest thing about this excursion was backing out of the parking spots where traffic tended to move pretty quickly along the B17 Road (see directions below).
