Waterfall Safety and Common Sense

The Kings Canyon Highway (Hwy 180) between Grant Grove and Cedar Grove passes through some rugged canyon scenery carved out mostly by the Kings River.

There are waterfalls deep in the canyon as well as along the road, which we certainly noticed in the multiple times we’ve driven through here over the years.

These waterfalls supplement the already beautiful scenery that accompanied us as wound our way through the twisty mountainous then cliff-hugging Kings Canyon Highway.

Among some of the falls we’ve noticed are the cascades on Ten Mile Creek, a nice vertical ephemeral waterfall near the Monarch Divide Pullout, and some surprise falls on the Kings River deep in the canyon.

Clearly, an observant passenger would be necessary to spot such fleeting and ephemeral displays of falling water, because we’d imagine the driver would be too busy concentrating on the road.
