Sacred Falls 1980

submitted by Ron Price on September 23, 2011

This post was in response to Sacred Falls

I am 52 to years old, and I still get emotional seeing pictures and videos of Sacred Falls.

I was stationed on Oahu between 1979 and 1981, while in the Navy.

When I went to Scared Falls with my friends, I thought the hike was a bit of a hassle until I started getting closer to the falls. Passion fruit trees abounded all around me, I picked an arm load of passion fruit and ate them as we progressed into the valley toward the falls.

When the trees cleared, I looked upon the falls for the first time, and felt awe as I’ve never experienced before, even in all the beauty I’ve seen on the Hawaiian Islands.

I truly felt that I was in a sacred place.
