Waterfalls in Illinois
Illinois Waterfalls were quite the rarity since the state was largely dominated by agriculture. That said, we did happen to visit one waterfall in Matthiessen State Park, which was less than two hours drive from the city of Chicago! Who knew?!?! Still, there was a lot of unexplored real-estate in the state, and finding more waterfalls here is certainly going to be a non-trivial task, especially when the Windy City beckons with its beautiful downtown area that seemed to rival New York as one of the more happening cities in the United States.

In any case, the lone waterfall we saw in Illinois was Cascade Falls, but it was dry during our Autumn visit. So we’ll definitely have to come back earlier in the season while also striving to explore other parts of the state in search of more waterfalls to add to our humble survey.
