I called this trip our Big Sur Errands trip because we used a weekend to scout out possible wedding venues. Of course, since we were already up here, we also took advantage of being able to go waterfalling in between these venue visits.
By the end of this trip, we felt that we were becoming quite familiar with the Big Sur area. And as you can see by this itinerary, weekend trips could become the norm for us, and I guess since we’re young, it seemed like a reasonable way to balance work and weekends to hold us over for longer vacations that we would always be craving (but were far too infrequent)…

Trip Highlights
Salmon Creek Falls – This attractive roadside waterfall was becoming quite the obligatory stop for us whenever we’ve been visiting Big Sur, which seemed to be quite frequent over the past few weeks let alone years. Indeed, this was definitely one of the more reliable waterfalls along the rugged coastline…
Limekiln Falls – For one reason or another, it wasn’t until this trip that we finally got to visit this impressive limestone wall waterfall. As you can see in this photo, when it’s pumping like it did on this visit, it was a sight to behold. We didn’t get a chance to do it on this trip, but we could have extended our hike to visit the namesake lime kilns as well.
Travel Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Los Angeles to Big Sur
Overnight: Lucia Lodge (Big Sur, California, USA)
This was basically a driving day since I couldn’t take days off work and we wound up at our accommodation right around nightfall.
Day 2: Big Sur Coast
Overnight: Lucia Lodge (Big Sur, California, USA)
In between visiting properties to scope out wedding venues, we did fit in some waterfalling excursions – namely Salmon Creek Falls, Limekiln Falls, and Canyon Falls.
Day 3: Arroyo Grande
This was basically a day where we drove straight home after eating the included breakfast.
