Inconsistencies in Measurements

submitted by _Anonymous202 on October 29, 2014

This post was in response to How Do You Measure A Waterfall’s Height?

The Measuring of Falls can produce Inconsistent Numbers because of the Level of the Water in a Lake, Pond or Stream. The level of some Lakes can vary more than 200 Feet, so if the Falls flow into a Lake, the Falls may actually be considerably Taller in the Fall then in the Spring. If we are then to Compare one set of Falls with another, the Standard of Measurement in relation to the Level of the Water at it’s base has to be kept at some sort of Constant for all of the Measurements that are Compared, such as all the Numbers Taken when the Streams and Lakes are Full. If there is no Constant in these Measurements, then the Comparisons will not be Accurate.
